Line up the details

Use the same vehicle, driver list, address, annual kilometres and effective date for each insurer. Compare required and optional coverages, liability limits, collision and comprehensive choices, deductibles, rental benefits and payment fees. Provincial public insurance makes some comparisons different; identify which part is optional.

Read before buying

Ask for written quote summaries and the policy wording. Check exclusions, claim support, cancellation rules and whether the displayed price lasts only for a promotional period. Our calculator can help set a budget but does not rank insurers or compare live premiums.

Make a small comparison table

Put each provider in a column and write the annual total, liability limit, collision and comprehensive deductible, rental option and exclusions in rows. If one field is blank, ask before choosing. Comparing complete policies this way prevents a low price with missing coverage from looking like a straight saving.
