Why address is asked
Insurers may consider where the vehicle is kept and driven, local claims experience and exposure to theft or collisions. Two households in the same city may have different quotes because of the drivers, exact vehicles, use and coverages. Enter the correct garaging address rather than a nearby lower-cost postal code.
What a broad calculator misses
Our tool only asks for the province, so it cannot measure neighbourhood-level differences. If you are moving, get new-address quotes before assuming your old premium will continue. Tell the insurer about a permanent move and confirm the policy's address and effective date.
If you plan to relocate
Before signing a new lease, ask your current insurer for an updated quote using the proposed address and parking arrangement. If the vehicle will be used for a different commute, mention that too. This yields a more useful budget than changing the province alone in an online calculator.
Quick check
- Use your actual address
- Quote before moving
- Update the insurer after moving
