Describe real use accurately

Estimate ordinary commuting, errands and other driving over a full year rather than one quiet month. Some insurers ask about annual kilometres and commute distance; some offer usage-based programs. Ask what the program measures, how its discount works and how your data is handled before enrolling.

Update the estimate when life changes

A new job, longer commute or rideshare work can change exposure. Tell your insurer when use changes materially. Our calculator does not accept kilometres, so it cannot promise a low-mileage discount; request actual quotes to see whether your insurer offers one.

When a commute disappears

Someone switching to remote work may drive fewer kilometres but still use the vehicle for errands, family trips and holidays. Estimate the new annual total and ask the insurer whether an update changes the quote. Do not assume the premium will fall immediately or by a predictable amount.
